Four Calling Birds

Today, I blog from the comfort of my own bed. It seems so palatial as I lie here watching Little Women with Kimber and KASS, and the only cat-dog are the pets at our feet. *sigh*

Kevin and I started showers a little after 5 am, hoping for an early hospital release. I believe we were home around 10ish. Kass is doing well and managing things nicely. Today, she had two showers, washed her hair, and took off her bandages. She looks great! The only disappointment was that my sister left for the airport before we got home. I missed having her here, but not seeing her. That being said, I am very grateful that I didn't have to worry about Kimber all week. The two kindred spirits have been texting all evening about some great treasure hunt for Christmas presents that she left behind. It will be interesting to watch this one unfold!

We've celebrated this Fourth Day of Christmas with Calling Birds. Just a few moments after we got here, our first guests arrived bringing an entire table filled with goodies and prizes. A short while later, our next guests came bringing much appreciated items like a baby monitor and a shower chair. My third batch of friends almost went unnoticed; they were dropping off soups and gluten-free cupcakes for Kevin. Kimber let them in while I was in the bedroom with Kass, and it was only by chance that I stumbled upon them in my living room. Our fourth callers were friends that drove well over an hour to see Kass. She loved all her (I think I count 11) callers, but was disappointed that she wasn't up for a longer visit. She gets so much stronger every day, that I'm sure it won't be long until she's back to normal.

For this very first night home, Kass and I will sleep in my bed so that I won't have to go up and down the stairs every 3 hours. I have tried to convince Kevin that it would be great if he sleeps upstairs in the guest bed. He's determined to sleep on the floor at the foot of the bed because he doesn't want to leave her yet. So as it stands, I'll have all the room in the world, and Kevin will sleep on the floor - with the cat & dog on him!
